Born Alfredo Bowman, Dr Sebi was a Honduran herbalist and holistic healer. He has cured various diseases with herbs and a vegan diet. He promoted the importance of an alkaline diet in relation to the unique genetic characteristics of Africans and their diaspora. A claim he would defend in a court of law in New York City in 1987 after being charged with practicing medicine without a license. Dr. Sebi successfully defended his position and was ultimately acquitted.
